The Atlanta R&B artist has been teasing this project for quite a while now. US Mint Pressed Its Final Penny Citing Rising Costs 

This week, a stalwart of the American economy will no longer be with us as the U.S. Mint pressed the final penny on Wednesday.

According to the Guardian, the U.S. Mint cited the cost, along with the relative uselessness of the penny, as a reason for ending its production. To paraphrase Kendrick Lamar, how much a penny cost?

Believe it or not, it costs 4 cents to produce a penny. While the penny has a better cost-to-value ratio than the nickel, which costs 14 cents to produce, the expense doesn’t match the penny’s usefulness.… Read more

Akon Locked Up After Getting Lacking On A Warrant For A Suspended License

Akon had a little run-in with the law recently that landed him in jail for a hot second.

Konvict Music’s own reportedly had a warrant out for his arrest due to a suspended license, according to TMZ. Back in September, Akon was cruising around Atlanta in his Cybertruck when police found his whip sitting in the middle of the road. He claimed the battery died, which is why it was left there.

Police stated that they called for a tow truck to get the Soul Survivor artist’s car out of the road, and during that process discovered his license was suspended.… Read more

Walmart Removes T-Shirt Showing Nazi Salute From Website

Retail giant Walmart removed a T-shirt and a hooded sweatshirt that depicted a Nazi salute emblazoned on the front, after a multitude of complaints on social media. The T-shirt and hoodie carried the phrase “Paper Beats Rock,” and it showed one hand raised with a flat hand in the upper right corner towering over a raised clenched fist in the lower left corner, holding a rock. The symbolism suggested that fascism would beat Black activism, which prominently uses the raised fist in its protest movements.… Read more

 KMOJ-FM 89.9 LAUNCHES THE STATE’S FIRST URBAN HIP-HOP STATION

 The New Urban Hip-Hop sound heats up the Minneapolis-St. Paul airwaves today at Noon and in the process logging another first for The Center for Communication and Development/ KMOJ-FM and HD1.

CCD/KMOJ-FM 89.9 is on the air with KMOJ HD2, The Ice. The new HD Channel, found at KMOJ-FM 89.9 HD2, is Minnesota’s first Urban Hip-Hop format. The Ice will also present Public Affairs programming in keeping with its community radio FCC license.… Read more
