Letitia James And 19 AGs File Suit Against DOJ Over Sex Assault Rule Change 

New York Attorney General Letitia James is among the 20 attorneys general who’ve filed a lawsuit against the Department of Justice (DOJ) over a rule change denying care for sexual assault victims if they can’t prove their citizenship.

According to NBC News, the lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Rhode Island, focuses on a new DOJ rule that goes into effect on Oct. 31, barring states from using funds provided by the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA), and the Byrne Justice Assistance Grants to assist undocumented immigrants.… Read more

Minneapolis flips the switch on City’s first-ever speed safety cameras

Starting October 1, the City of Minneapolis will launch automated enforcement of speed limits at five high-risk intersections for the first time in the City’s history. The traffic camera safety pilot program is a key part of the City’s award-winning Vision Zero initiative to eliminate traffic deaths and severe injuries on Minneapolis streets, and represents a new tool to ensure a seamless – and safe – city experience for all residents and visitors.

Here We Go Again: Diddy Back In Court Asking For New Trial

Diddy was back in court on Thursday, trying to get his conviction overturned or a new trial.

He was found guilty in July on two counts of prostitution and has been in jail since his arrest last September. His sentencing is set for October 3. During the hearing, Judge Arun Subramanian did not make a decision right away and adjourned the court. Amazon Reaches $2.5B Settlement In Prime FTC Lawsuit

Amazon has agreed to a record-breaking $2.5 billion settlement with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) over allegations that it tricked millions of consumers into signing up for its Prime subscription service and made it nearly impossible to cancel.

The settlement announced on Thursday came days into a jury trial that began in Seattle this week over the issue, which stemmed from a lawsuit filed by the Federal Trade Commission in 2023.

According to the FTC lawsuit filed the in June 2023, the retail giant was accused of deceptive practices that enrolled customers in Prime without consent and deliberately complicated the cancellation process.… Read more
