🖤 BLACK MATERNAL HEALTH WEEK

Protecting Our Mothers. Strengthening Our Community.
✨ WHY THIS MATTERS

In our city and across the nation, Black women are still facing higher risks during pregnancy and childbirth. This is about more than healthcare—this is about equity, access, and being heard.

Our mothers are the heart of Minneapolis. When they are cared for, supported, and protected, our families and our future thrive.

💬 THE REALITY
Black women are 3–4x more likely to experience pregnancy-related complications
Many are not listened to or taken seriously in medical spaces
Access to culturally competent care is still limited

💡 WHAT WE CAN DO AS A COMMUNITY

✔️ Encourage early and consistent prenatal care
✔️ Support Black doulas, midwives, and birth workers
✔️ Advocate for better healthcare systems
✔️ Check in on mothers—mentally, physically, emotionally
✔️ Speak up and stand in the gap
