New information is surfacing concerning a cyberattack that infiltrated the City of St. Paul’s computer network. Mayor Melvin Carter says it was a malware attack that sought to invade and infect the city’s system. He added that he’s not ready to reveal if it was a ransomware attack. Mayor Carter added that emergency systems are fully operational, but local libraries and recreational centers have no internet. The city is not accepting online payments for water and other services. The mayor has hired a pair of national cybersecurity companies to help locate the hackers.
