Tory Lanez Reportedly Stabbed In Jail, Rushed To Hospital

Rapper Tory Lanez has reportedly been stabbed by an inmate at the California Correctional Institution at Tehachapi, where he’s currently serving out his 10-year prison sentence for the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion, TMZ reported.

Lanez, 32, was in the yard of the facility on Monday morning (May 12) when the stabbing occurred. TMZ noted that the rapper—real name Daystar Peterson—was rushed to a nearby hospital in Bakersfield with non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to survive the attack. The motive behind the stabbing incident remains unclear.

In December 2024, Tory Lanez was found guilty of three felony charges stemming from the 2020 shooting of rapper Megan Thee Stallion, which occurred during a roadside altercation following a Hollywood Hills house party in July of that year. Lanez was convicted of negligent discharge of a firearm, assault with a semiautomatic weapon, and possession of a loaded, unregistered firearm.

The news arrives just three days after the hip-hop star shared an update via Instagram, announcing his sophomore album. He also shared a personal update on his well-being. The Canadian rapper posted a striking photo of himself dressed in an all-white outfit that showed off his muscular frame. Despite his ongoing legal battles and incarceration, Lanez appeared upbeat and composed, flashing a confident expression that suggested he was maintaining a positive outlook.

“FROM TORY: UPDATE: 2025 …. IYKYK. LESS IMPORTANT UPDATE: 2ND ALBUM 100 % RECORDED, MIXED & MASTERED. NEW ALBUM. NEW GENRE: SLUTTY BASS,”  his post read.

The post quickly gained attention from fans and followers, many of whom flooded the comments with messages of support and encouragement. His return to social media was especially noteworthy, coming at a time when renewed headlines about his courtroom conduct and ongoing legal issues were making waves in the media.

Megan Thee Stallion asked the court to punish Lanez for his “disruptive” behavior in court during an April deposition.

In April, Megan Thee Stallion went back to court, asking a judge to punish Lanez for allegedly being disruptive during a deposition related to her ongoing civil lawsuit against blogger Milagro Cooper. In her filing, Megan alleged that Cooper used defamatory claims, deepfake pornographic content, and falsehoods about her, allegedly “at the behest and command” of Lanez, a petition obtained by TMZ noted in a report published April 16.

According to the Grammy award-winning rapper’s legal team, Lanez’s conduct during the deposition was “disruptive, inflammatory, and inconsistent with the basic norms of civil litigation.” They claimed he faked confusion over simple terms like “discuss” and “approve,” and even made personal remarks about Megan’s attorney, referring to her hair dye as “distracting” and sarcastically suggesting she bring a hairbrush to their next session.

Megan Thee Stallion was awarded a five-year restraining order against the rapper in January.
