Fighting back tears, Foxx recounted the harrowing ordeal, beginning with a visit to a Georgia doctor who dismissed his symptoms with a cortisone shot. “What the f–k is that?” he quipped. “I don’t know if you can do Yelp for doctors, but that’s half a star.” Thankfully, his sister, Deidra Dixon, sought a second opinion at Piedmont Hospital, where the staff acted swiftly to save his life.

Doctors informed Dixon of the dire situation, saying, “He’s having a brain bleed that has led to a stroke. If I don’t go in his head right now, we’re going to lose him.” Following surgery, Foxx was told he could recover fully, but it would be the “worst year of his life.”
Foxx recalled waking up 20 days later in a wheelchair, initially confused by the ordeal. Despite the severity, he maintained his sense of humor, joking about a vision of a hot tunnel, wondering, “Am I going to the wrong place in this motherf–ker?”
In April 2023, news of Foxx’s hospitalization broke, with his daughter Corinne describing it as a “medical complication.” By May, she confirmed he was recovering at a rehabilitation center in Chicago. Foxx later walked Corinne down the aisle at her September 2024 wedding, symbolizing his incredible journey to recovery.
