Angela Bassett is headed to Atlanta. On Thursday (April 25), Spelman College announced the acclaimed actress as its keynote speaker for the institution’s 137th commencement ceremony. Additionally, the 65-year-old will receive an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts degree.

New rideshare ordinance goes into effect July 1

The Minneapolis City Council voted unanimously on April 11 to delay the start of its new rideshare ordinance by two months.

Instead of going into effect on May 1, the new start date is slated for July 1, giving the council more time to consider possible amendments to the law and giving new rideshare providers more time to set up.

Councilmember Aurin Chowdhury said four rideshare startups have submitted applications for licensing as of April 10 to replace Uber and Lyft if they depart.… Read more
