John Amos’ Family Releases Statement After Learning He Passed Away 45 Days Ago: ‘We Refuse to Rule Out the Possibility of Foul Play’

Amos’ daughter Shannon also claimed on her IG Stories that someone was impersonating her while her father was in the ER.

Drama continues to persist in the family of late actor John Amos, whose passing was formally announced on Tuesday (Oct. 1), although he died on Aug. 21.

TMZ reports that Amos’ cause of death at an Inglewood hospital was congestive heart failure and that the actor’s son, Kelly Christopher Amos, also known as “K.C.” was listed on the death certificate as “informant.” Amos was cremated nine days later, with K.C. being in possession of his father’s remains.

But after Amos’ daughter, Shannon, revealed that she only learned of the news of her father’s passing through the media, she’s now claiming that a woman impersonating her was present at the hospital.

On Tuesday evening, Shannon posted a message about a woman who was in the ER and “pretended to be” Amos’ daughter on the night that the Good Times actor died.

“I’m his only daughter,” the message continued. “We believe it was Belinda Foster, the woman also posing as his publicist. He died alone without family.”

Shannon then asked for those with any information to message her and that it would be “confidential.”

Another follow-up post showed Shannon responding to a commenter who was told that she was in the ER with Amos before his death.

“Because that wasn’t me,” Shannon replied. “I’m his only daughter and that woman was lying. We only found out today with the rest of the world.”On Tuesday, Shannon shared an Instagram montage dedicated to her father and her confusion about not being previously informed about his death.

“I am without words…Our family has received the heartbreaking news that my Dad, John Allen Amos, Jr., transitioned on Aug. 21,” Shannon wrote. “We are devastated and left with many questions about how this happened 45 days ago, learning about it through the media like so many of you.”

She continued, “This should be a time of honoring and celebrating his life, yet we are struggling to navigate the wave of emotions and uncertainties surrounding his passing. Still, there is some semblance of peace in knowing my father is finally free.”Last year, Amos told People that he hoped to have an “harmonious relationship” with his daughter during a period of estrangement and that at the time, their relationship was “somewhat acrimonious.”
