6th Annual Educators Celebrations. Celebrating Educators and all the hard work they do, and recognizing the contributions Educators bestow upon our children, our families and our communities. March 13th, 6 – 9pm at the Living Room at the W Hotel 821 Marquette Ave. in Minneapolis. Special guest entertainment Mrs. Nothando Zulu and Keno Evol .

A tribute for Minneapolis Central Basketball Legend Joey Wilburn Sat. March 14th, at 8:30pm at The Lux located at 3836 4th Ave. South Minneapolis. The Djs will be J.R. Maddox and KMOJ’s own Kimuel Hailey.

Recreation Fire And Miracles Ministries presents; the 9th year convention. The theme is My Abrahamic Greatness, the events are March 17th – 22nd at 6pm daily and Sunday at 9am. The Juneteenth Celebrating Freedom Day Committee will hold community meeting the first and third Wednesday of every month, 5:30 to 7pm. You can give your opinion and share your ideals. The 9th Annual Soul Bowl      

Date: Monday January 20th

Target Demo:  All Ages

Average Annual Attendance: 300+

KMOJ Soul Bowl is a bowling tournament where listeners compete against various teams of KMOJ On-Air personalities for Twin Cities bragging rights.  This event is designed to create unity between the listeners and the radio station.

St. Paul Cinco de Mayo Celebration

 Date: Saturday May 28th

Target Demo:  All Ages

Average Annual Attendance: 10,000

Saint Paul’s Cinco de Mayo Fiesta, in District del Sol, features a parade, 5k Race, Community Village, food, live music and entertainment for the entire family to enjoy.  This award-winning outdoor festival has become the largest Hispanic/Latino event in Minnesota, and one of the top 10 Cinco de Mayo celebrations nationwide.

The KMOJ 13th Annual Voyage “Cruise Down the St. Croix”  

Date: Saturday May 23rd

Target Demo:  21+

Average Annual Attendance: 600+

The Voyage is a boat ride aboard the Paddleford Riverboat’s Anson & Betsey Northrup down the Mississippi River.  This event features Local Artist Performances, KMOJ D.J. competition and KMOJ On-Air Personalities.

The Juneteenth Celebration     

Date: Saturday June 20th

Average Annual Attendance: 5,000

Juneteenth commemorates the historic events of June 19, 1865, when African slaves in Galveston, TX learned, 2½ years after the fact, that the Emancipation Proclamation had freed them. Juneteenth is observed locally and nationally as a day of reflection, empowerment and preparation for future challenges. Using historical and culturally specific information to ensure a better future for African American individuals, families, and communities is a key aim of Juneteenth programs and activities.  

Twin Cities PRIDE Celebration      

Date: Saturday June 27th

Target Demo:  All Ages

Average Annual Attendance: 400,000

Twin Cities Pride brings the greater GLBT community together to commemorate the diverse heritage, foster inclusion, educate and create awareness of issues, and celebrate achievements in equality. The events are open and inviting to everyone in the community, providing a safe environment in which individuals feel free to celebrate their relationships

The Rondo Days Celebration     

Date: July 18th

Target Demo:  All Ages

Average Annual Attendance: 8,000

Rondo Days is an annual weekend festival held in mid-July in Saint Paul, Minnesota that commemorates the Rondo neighborhood, an African-American community that was split in two by the construction of Interstate 94 in the mid-1960s. The festival has grown since its inception in 1982 to become the second largest African American sponsored festival in Minnesota

FLOW Northside Arts Crawl   

Date: Saturday July 28th

Average Annual Attendance: 3,500

FLOW Northside Arts Crawl is both a community celebration and premier art event in North Minneapolis. FLOW is a non-hurried, self-guided tour of studios, galleries, theaters, commercial and vacant spaces over a mile and half of the West Broadway corridor. From b-boys to ballet, graffiti to graphite, rap to rhapsody, fine artist to artisan, practicing to professional, FLOW showcases the great art being made every day on the Northside of Minneapolis.

The Minneapolis Urban League Family Day

 Date: Saturday August 29th

Average Annual Attendance: 3,000

Minneapolis Urban Leagues’ Family Day Celebration highlights the importance of strong families and builds a greater sense of community among African-Americans. The celebration is where people from across the metro area come to enjoy family, food, music, games, community, and the beautiful weather.

2nd Annual Sotafest

Date: Saturday TBD

Target Demo:  21+

Average Annual Attendance: estimated 1,000

Sotafest is a day-long festival featuring Local and National bands performing live.  This event was created to highlight local bands with a portion of the proceeds collected directed to help create opportunities for kids in Minneapolis parks by funding scholarships for youth programming.

The 3rd Annual Backpack  Event

KMOJ and its partners distribute packbacks and school supplies to students to help them return to school well-equipped for learning.

Minnesota State Fair 

Date: August 27th through September 7th

Average Annual Attendance: 2,200,000

The Minnesota State Fair (aka The Great Minnesota Get Together) is the major annual event in the State of Minnesota.  The 12 day annual Minnesota State Fair is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the region. You also have a chance to Dance With Our DJs.   

The Lowry Ave. Open Streets Celebration  

Date: Saturday September 26th

Target Demo:  All Ages

Average Annual Attendance: 5,000

Open Streets Minneapolis allows residents to experience their city in a whole new way.   Open Streets Minneapolis is the perfect chance to promote healthy living, local businesses, sustainable transportation and civic pride in Minneapolis. Open Streets Minneapolis is miles of safe, car-free streets so that residents of all ages can walk, bike, shop, participate in spontaneous play activities and get to know one another. 

KMOJ Turkey Giveaway 

Date:  Friday November 20th

Target Demo:  All Ages

Average Annual Attendance:  N/A

KMOJ partners with the local business community to provide turkeys and fixings to families that may be challenged to present a Thanksgiving meal to their loved ones.  The goal each year is to assist a minimum of 100 families.
