The figure it sold for is between $25 million and $50 million.
Eve has sold the rights to her back catalog and now she’s a whole lot richer.
Music Business Worldwide reports that the legendary rapper sold the publishing rights to her music catalog to Olivier Chastan’s acquisition firm, Iconoclast, for a massive eight-figure deal. Sources have confirmed to the publication that the deal is worth anywhere worth between $25 million and $50 million.
Speaking about the deal, Chastan expressed his respect for Eve: “Eve’s contributions to hip hop and popular culture are unparalleled. She’s not only a great artist but a true pioneer for women in the genre,” Chastan stated.
“We are honored to help preserve and elevate her incredible legacy, ensuring that her influence continues to inspire future generations of artists and fans alike,” he added.
Eve’s opened up about different experiences in her career in her new memoir Who’s That Girl. In it, she talks about a time when The LOX were contemplating how they were going to confront Mike Tyson for making her feel uncomfortable.”One time, Mike Tyson tried talking to me crazy when I was out with The LOX,” Eve wrote. “The guys saw I was noticeably uncomfortable, and they were about to fight Mike Tyson to protect me. Literally, Styles P, Jadakiss, and Sheek Louch were building a strategy around how they were going to potentially gang up on Iron Mike.”
Another part of Eve’s book talks about her experience being signed to Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment in the late 90s, only to be dropped within eight months. “I think it was a huge blessing in disguise,” she said. “I needed to be humbled. I think a lot of the reason why I got dropped by Dre is that I was so, ‘When is it my turn? When are you going to put me on?’ So extra Philly feisty. I needed to be sent back home to be like, ‘OK, well, if you got this opportunity again, who do you want to be? What do you want to show the world?'”
