Vikings unveil new 2024-25 ‘Winter Warrior’ uniform

The club says the new, nearly all-white look is designed to be the “coldest uniform in the league.”

EAGAN, Minn. — The Minnesota Vikings have a quarterback of the future, a newly-signed star wideout, and now – a fresh uniform designed to send a chill down the spines of opponents.

One season after debuting “The Classic” (a throwback to the Purple People Eaters of yesteryear) the Vikings are taking the wraps off the “Winter Warrior,” a nearly all-white edition designed to be the “coldest uniform in the league.” The team says the look was inspired by fan reaction to Minnesota’s first Winter Whiteout theme game back in 2022.

We went into the first Winter Whiteout game two years ago anxious to see how Vikings fans would embrace wearing all white,” said Vikings Director of Brand & Design Alicia Dreyer. “They loved it, and that reaction allowed us to really lean into this as the direction for our second alternate uniform. Some of the greatest feedback we received from that game was the fans’ desire to see an all-white helmet.”

Dreyer said the process of creating new uniforms and helmets takes two years time.

The Vikings say the helmet is the most striking part of the Winter Warrior edition, the first non-purple helmet in team history. It will be painted with a satin finish and adorned with a subtle metallic gray stripe inspired by the metal striping found on ancient Viking helmets. The design removed all warm colors from the uniform, leaving no gold elements in the pants, jersey or helmet.

In another nod to the past, the jersey features a revised Nordic knot that was originally designed and placed on the inside neckline of Vikings uniforms in 2016. The Winter Warrior edition places the knot on the outside of the neckline and includes three shields as a nod to Head Coach Kevin O’Connell’s mantra: “Our Way. Our Team. Our Process.”

“This uniform celebrates Minnesota and Nordic Vikings,” said Vikings Art Manager Jackie Ramacher. “Minnesotans are battle-tested, resilient and tough. We are not only bonded by our harsh, cold winters, but we embrace them, so it’s fitting that the Vikings wear the coldest uniforms in the NFL.”

The Winter Warrior uniforms will debut Dec. 16 when the Vikings take the field for a Monday Night Football game against the rival Chicago Bears. The jerseys will be available beginning on Friday, June 7 at 8 a.m. both online and at Vikings Locker Room store locations.
