BLACK HISTORY MONTH SPOTLIGHT: CHEIF WILLIAM BLAIR ANDERSON OF ST.CLOUD

February 28, 2013 in THE MORNING SHOW, Uncategorized

Unknown-2When William Blair Anderson was hired as St. Cloud police chief last summer he became the first African American in the city’s 154 year history to be appointed the position. The leaders who hired him did not necessarily consider the historic implications that Anderson’s accomplishment could have. They were simply trying to hire the best candidate for the job. Anderson, a Detroit native,  is more than qualified. Blair served 8 years in the United States Army, and began his criminal justice career as an intern with the Dakota County Sheriff’s office. He was a member of the SWAT team for five years and served as the Chief Deputy position in Carver County Sheriff’s office. Hopefully with Anderson now as police chief, there is a strong possibility that he could begin to address and even alleviate some of the black community’s distrust in law enforcement.
