Some may say that Dame Dash is inching his way back into a world that he helped create…contrary to popular belief the magnate hasn’t gone anywhere. He’s still innovating and adding to the culture of hip-hop. With a modern business model Dame Dash has begun to delve into arenas that don’t fit his earlier persona of popping bottles, chasing models and throwing stacks in the air. The business savvy 41-year-old is now the creator of “DD172 ” which is best described as a media collective. The collective includes Bluroc music, America Nu magazine, and an art gallery. In addition to artistic business he has Dash Motors which produces high quality motor oil.
Although Dame has no problem recovering from the life he lived over 20 years ago, it’s obvious that the mention of Jay-Z (hiss previous business partner and long time friend) brings emotion to the surface. Not willing to discuss his current relationship with Jay-Z, he does however have no issue saying how proud he is to see his ex-partner living the life he set out to live. In a recent interview for Global Grind, Dame Dash shares that his partnership with Jay-Z should simply be viewed as businessmen parting ways, he says, “All we did was make a company together and sold the company” he goes on to say, “Why can’t two black people do that, it happens all the time.” When asked about his reluctance to talk about his fizzled friendship with the Rock-A-Fella Records co-creator he jokingly says that’s a conversations for Dr. Phil. All in all Dame Dash seems pleased with where he is in life. He’s grown from the insecurities of his youth into that of a true businessman out of the lime light and immersed himself in his passions.

Toni shares in her VH1 interview that the media powerhouse Oprah Winfrey was rude to her during a 1998 interview where she disclosed her financial problems. She opens up about how Oprah’s comments tarnished her reputation and played a role in her decision to proclaim bankruptcy.
Toni recalls Oprah’s statement—
“She said, ‘I hear you have Gucci flatware; I’m Oprah Winfrey and I don’t have Gucci flatware…’ Toni goes on to say, “You didn’t have Gucci flatware because you didn’t wanna buy it; it’s not because you couldn’t afford it.”
Whether Oprah was mean or not she knew what she was talking about because in the news today the singer has been accused of faking out creditors she owed in her 2010 bankruptcy by transferring $53,490 to her estranged husband (Keri Lewis) in an attempt to avoid paying the debt.
According to documents filed in her ongoing bankruptcy case, Keri Lewis received the lump sum of money after the funds were allocated to creditors. This means Lewis could be sued and made to relinquish the money. ~Alysha “AP” Price
